I've ordered plants for a few years now from Proven Winners and this is the first time I received plants that were subpar. I ordered 4 of these plants. With shipping, the total came to $67.47. I received all four plants on 06/06/24. All of the plants were very yellow and appeared to be barely hanging on. I watered them thoroughly and kept them protected until I planted them in their pots (aqua pots) on 06/12/24. Watered them in and filled the aquapot. Also, said a prayer over them. Well, I got home today (06/13/24) and checked on them as soon as I got home, and it appears that they didn't even last a day. I may try this plant, again, but only if I can get it locally. I definitely won't be ordering it, again.

The Knight lobularia are wonderful multi-season plants. If hardened off, they can be planted in early spring when temperatures still fluxuate wildly, but these improved varieties also have much bettter heat performance. They aren't bulletproof plants yet, but they do bloom prolifically through the summer in most areas. Then as things cool off again in fall the plants adapt once again to wide variations in temperatures. They will bloom prolifically in fall until a good hard frost finally causes them to call it done for the year.

It is cold tolerant and heat tolerant. He is also a "heavy drinker" and will prefer evenly moist soil. It will be quick to show drought stress, but should bounce back quickly once re-hydrated. In a hanging basket you should be prepared to water often, maybe more than once a day during warm weather. Plants are easier to keep moist when planted in large planters. Due to water needs it is ideal for use in larger planters. In containers an application of continuous release fertilizer at planting is best. To help maximize performance use applications of a well-balanced water-soluble fertilizer (according to package directions) starting in mid-summer.
It will also perform well in the landscape where it will function as an annual, full sun, groundcover.
While plants shouldn't need to be trimmed back, if the plant is taking over your walkway or is looking less than the best a trim can be administered at anytime. Use a sharp pair of scissors or pruning shears as needed.
A yearly application of fertilizer or compost on garden beds and regular fertilization of plants in pots will help ensure the best possible performance.

I planted three Violet Knight alyssums and one Bordeaux petunia in each of two 16" hanging pots in a sunny location. These alyssums do not grow as large or long as Snow Princess, but are full and bushy, producing flowers of a rich purple color. The petunia held its own and its flowers mingled nicely with the alyssum. It was a pretty combination. The reason I didn't rate the alyssum better is that in late summer two of the alyssum plants, one in each pot, inexplicably died, leaving big bare spots. I don't know what happened and was disappointed.

I planted 10 violet knight sweet alyssums in a bed that gets full sun in the morning and afternoon shade. They were planted in mid March and now early June they are huge and thriving. The bees and butterflies love them! Zone 8b Central Texas
