    Maintenance Notes:

Lavender have woodier stems than the average perennial and are somewhat evergreen – they’re used to holding their foliage through winter. Because of this a hard trim in fall is usually not good for them. They need the woody structure to protect the crown of the plant through winter. This plant prefers sandy/loamy soil and not clay.

Gardeners around the world have been growing lavender for centuries for its intensely fragrant flowers, beautiful appearance, and ease of culture.

Along comes SWEET ROMANCE, destined to become a favorite because of its ability to bloom the first year.  Additionally, it begins to flower a bit earlier in the season, typically in early summer and lasting into early fall.

The grey-green foliage forms a compact mound topped with plump, rich violet purple flower wands that are perfect for cutting for fresh and dried bouquets. Clusters of tiny flowers appear at the nodes up the stem in addition to the terminal inflorescence, adding color down into the plant.

    • I bought 6 Sweet Romance from Proven Winners to border my driveway. Out of different types of lavender I've grown, this is my favorite both for looks and for harvesting for culinary & crafts. Good strong stems for drying upside down, lavender simple syrup tastes great, good for sachets, etc. Thank you!

    • These were an utter failure. I ordered a dozen plants, which arrived promptly and seemed in good shape. They were planted, under all the right growing conditions, within two days of receipt. Within a couple weeks, they began to turn brown and looked like they were dying. I trimmed the dead flowers and only half of them look like they may have life. Very disappointed with this plant and got no help from PW.

    • I am very disappointed with this purchase. 5 out of the 6 Sweet Romance Lavender plants I planted last year died, and did not return this year.

    • Gorgeous and bloomed twice this season. With proper pruning I expect this plant could bloom multiple times over each season. Definitely a winner!

    • I picked up nearly 30 of these on clearance at a local nursery. Despite being planted in the middle of a dearth on a hill, they all made it and continued to bloom well into the Fall. I had a hard time deciding when to prune it back because my honeybees were still sourcing the blooms! This a is wow plant! So pleasant smelling, easy to care for - all of which makes it "sweet."
