Hardy Zones

Zones are based on the lowest average temperature an area is expected to receive during the winter. They are used to determine whether a plant is likely to be perennial in your area. If your zone is equal to or higher than the zone listed for the plant, it will be hardy for you and thrive in your climate.

    Uses Notes:

Late season color for hedges, perennial or shrub borders, specimen and containers. This is a nice addition to the mixed border, and can also be used as a specimen plant for late summer interest. Excellent for hedging.

    Maintenance Notes:

Grows in any soil unless it is either really wet or dry. Prune in early spring if desired. Can be heavily pruned, but this is not usually necessary. Prefers medium moisture. Fertilize in early spring by applying a slow release fertilizer formulated for trees and shrubs. Follow the label for recommended rate of application.

Above Average Superior performance, among my favorites, would recommend to others.
    • I planted an entire row of these, as they were advertised as good for a hedge and deer resistant. The deer ate them all down to a single bare twig. Pretty sure they are all dead.

Unsatisfied Did not survive, inferior performance or did not bloom well - won't grow again.
    • This plant is beautiful. It had buds on it when I planted it and the plant started blooming. The flowers are gorgeous. HOWEVER, this plant is not deer resistant at all. Mine has been eaten down to the soil by deer. So now I've lost a shrub. Very disappointed about that.

Marginally Adequate Performed below expectations but may be willing to try again.
    • I love this plant. I have it in blue and also in maroon. Its 5feet tall and has beautiful blue to purple flowers as they fade. I have several against the southern fence. I look foward to them blooming every year
